What is MEDIA?
MEDIA is a private media center for Windows and Android TV. You extend it with addons: they supply the catalogs, the sources and the subtitles, and MEDIA gives them one calm interface, picks the best source and plays it.
Does MEDIA include any films or series?
No. MEDIA does not host, sell or provide any films, series or streams. What you can watch depends on the addons you install, and you are responsible for using only content you have the right to watch.
Does MEDIA work with Stremio addons?
Yes. MEDIA speaks the Stremio addon protocol, so addons built for Stremio (catalogs, metadata, streams and subtitles) can be installed in MEDIA by their manifest URL. See How it works.
Which devices does MEDIA run on?
MEDIA runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) and on Android TV and Google TV devices with Android 8.0 or newer. There is no macOS, Linux, iPhone or browser player at the moment.
How does MEDIA choose a source?
It sorts the sources your addons return into five resolution steps (4K HDR, 4K, 1080p, 720p and 480p). At your preferred step it plays a direct link if there is one, otherwise the peer-to-peer source with the most seeders. You can move to another step with Resolution, or try the next best source with Switch source.
Do I need an account?
A MEDIA account keeps your profiles, watch progress, lists and settings in sync between the desktop app and the TV app, and pairs the TV with a code. MEDIA is in a closed beta: anyone can sign up, and the owner lets people in one by one. Manage your account in Settings › Account in the app.
How do I install the Android TV app?
Download the APK on the Download page, check its SHA-256, and sideload it with a file manager or adb install. Then scan the QR code, sign in, and confirm the additional code shown on your TV.
What are MEDIA Extras?
Features you add to your own bundle: more profiles (up to five), offline downloads on your computer, six colour palettes and Skip intro, with more on the way. MEDIA is free: browsing, playback, addons and My Space. MEDIA Extras add more: €6 a month for 3 extras of your choice, and €1 for each one more. During the closed beta nothing is charged: the owner turns extras on.
Is MEDIA open source?
Not at the moment. MEDIA bundles open-source components such as mpv and the Manrope typeface under their own licences.
